A Beautiful Life

I’ve been reading the book One Thousand Gifts. Its insightful author writes so well. Her thoughts on pain in our lives struck deep resulting in my mind wrestling words onto a page.  Perhaps you may relate.

What Price Beauty?

Diamonds mantle deep

Extreme heat…extreme pressure

Surface thrown…volcano shrapnel.

Rubies’ recherché

A crash of continents

Thrust upward…world’s apex.

Emerald verdancy

Acid water superheated

Cooling veins green slowly.

Grandeur’s cost great…pressure pulchritudinous.

Why do my soft hands, soft heart, soft life

Expect effortlessness?
